UEFA has apologised for running out of winners medals during the Europa League final trophy ceremony on Wednesday after more Tottenham Hotspur players than expected lined up to receive their individual prizes.

This is the first time in four years that an English club has played in the Europa League Final since Manchester United lost a wild match against Villareal in penalties in 2021. No EPL side has won the championship since Chelsea lifted the trophy in 2019, which saw them beat Arsenal in the latest all-Englnd final.

Europa League final was contested between the 16th and 17th-placed teams in the English Premier League. That itself is a testament to the strength of the English league.
