New Jersey Transit trains will begin running again on Tuesday after the agency reached a tentative deal on Sunday with striking rail engineers on wage increases, ending a three-day work stoppage that had left tens of thousands of commuters to New York scrambling to find alternative transportation.

NJ Transit and the engineers' union reached a tentative agreement Sunday on a new contract, ending the three-day transit strike -- and an anticipated week of headache for 100,000 daily riders.

Mr. Murphy declined to provide any details of the tentative agreement but said it was “fair to NJ Transit’s employees while also being affordable for our state’s commuters and taxpayers.”
