A parade in Washington, D.C., commemorating the 250th anniversary of the armed services and coinciding with the birthday of President Donald Trump, kicked off Saturday with a grand showing of the military's power throughout the National Mall.

Hours before the parade, a steady stream of people were queuing to get into the Army Birthday Festival on the National Mall. Many donned t-shirts with American flags, Army fatigues, insignia honoring military service and the occasional MAGA hat.

The National Mall in Washington, D.C., will be filled with parading military vehicles from the Army’s 250 years of operation. The Army began operations on June 14, 1775, one year before the United States was founded. Saturday is also Trump’s 79th birthday.
