Philadelphia stood among 16 Pennsylvania cities and counties named Thursday night on the Trump administration’s list of sanctuary jurisdictions, places now to receive formal notice of what the president calls non-compliance with federal immigration law.

Huntington Beach’s conservative City Council earlier this year approved a resolution declaring itself a “non-sanctuary city.”

In the letter to the Department of Homeland Security, the Newsom administration contends that court rulings have rejected the argument that California sanctuary law limiting law enforcement coordination with immigration authorities "unlawfully obstructs the enforcement of federal immigration laws.
