U.S. Senate Republicans said on Thursday they will seek substantial changes to President Donald Trump's sweeping tax and spending bill after it narrowly won approval in the House of Representatives, in a sign that significant hurdles remain for the package.

The tax cut-and-border measure will likely be changed when it is considered by the Senate, but Trump heralded it as “arguably the most significant piece of Legislation that will ever be signed in the History of our Country” following its narrow passage in the House.

The tax and spending bill, which must still pass in the Senate, includes sweeping changes to the tax code, Social Security and more.
