The Pittsburgh Pirates are headed toward being sellers at the trade deadline. Could they ever consider trading Paul Skenes well before he hits free agency?

The Chicago Cubs could certainly use another starting pitcher. Is it too bold to dream of landing one of the game's top aces? Perhaps, especially because that ace would come from their division rivals.

Skenes hits arbitration in 2027, but isn't a free agent until 2030. Unless he tells the Pirates that he plans to sit out until they move him, there wouldn't be much of a reason for them to consider it.
